Construction Information

One of the main features of this development is its use of eco-friendly building materials and principals to achieve a building that is as environmentally-friendly as possible and that will reduce the overall energy consumption of the project.

The massive walls are made from large straw bales which provide excellent insulation, when working in conjunction with other innovative systems, resulting in minimal heat loss to the building. Crushed concrete from old buildings on the site will be used as substrate and energy from the soil will be captured to warm the building using heat pumps. The building will benefit from natural ventilation and increased natural daylight, resulting in optimal working conditions.

“The rule we are working to is nothing in, nothing out: we’re recycling whatever we can…” (Chris Redding, Proprietor & Farmer)
